How efficient is my cool box?

Nowadays, more and more goods to be cooled, such as food or medicines, are being shipped. In order to ensure a continuous cold chain for these mostly small units, the goods are packed in insulated boxes without active cooling. In some cases, passive cold accumulators in the form of freezer packs are also packed.

We support the industry in the evaluation and continuous improvement of this packaging. Therfore we offer the following services:

  • Measurement of heat transition coefficient (k-Value) of the insulated boxes / containers according to DIN EN 17066 in suitable climate chambers.
  • Measurement to determine the maximum cooling time of the insulated boxes / containers with loading and freezer packs, if necessary.
  • Consulting to improve insulated boxes / containers and freezer packs.

All Measurements are carried out in close coordination with the costumer. Different calibrated measurement systems and data loggers are available. The measurements will be carried out at constant temperature or specified temperature profiles. Various packages according to DIN EN 62552 with gel filling are available for simulating the goods / loading of the insulated boxes. Thermal images can also be taken to identify thermal bridges.
