Science connects people worldwide. Rasha Nasr can agree to that, too. Since autumn, she has been a member of the German Bundestag in Berlin. Today, she is visiting the ILK Dresden – a very warm start of the year between Prof. Uwe Franzke and the open-minded and committed politician, who was born in Dresden in 1992.
Rasha Nasr was elected for the German Bundestag in 2021 via the Saxon list of candidates. She is a regular member of the Committee on Labour and Social Affairs as well as a deputy member of the Committees on Internal Affairs and Community and on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid.
But not solely in this role was she fascinated by the ILK’s worldwide activities. One example is the self-sufficient production of cake ice, which has been pushed by ILK researchers in cooperation with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) for Indonesian fishermen, and which has been installed on-site. Another example is the cooperation with the JINR (Joint Institute of Nuclear Research) in Dubna in the field of helium condensers. This cooperation is also important with regards to the German-Russian roadmap for the cooperation in education, science, research and innovation from 2018. “I believe that it is important, even in difficult political situations, to keep up the communication across nations. The scientists, who have been working together worldwide researching their visions for many years, are a neutral platform for communication – in good times and in times that are not so good. This is a basis that politicians can rely on. At the same time, science has to rely on political decisions.”, says Prof. Franzke, Managing Director of the ILK Dresden. Rasha Nasr emphasized this statement: „Scientific findings should be the basis of a better quality of life worldwide across all classes.” Across all research disciplines, the Dresden institute focuses on quality of life and the environment.
Dr. Matthias H. Buschmann explains the background of ventilation measurements in the testing field of the ILK Dresden. “We measure how viruses are transmitted when humans live and work together in closed rooms. Our goal is to eventually provide all people with more quality of life by reopening public spaces such as cultural sites etc. by means of official guidelines, as well as making these places useable in an active, safe and predictable way.”
Then ILK Dresden wishes Rasha Nasr lots of strength and positive allies on her political way. https://rasha-nasr.spd.de/cupcake-politics/
